Hands-on Theory Learner Conference – Gauteng

I am extremely excited to announce that Marjorie Raijmakers and I will be hosting the first of its kind
Hands-on Theory Conference for learners. We hope to make this a yearly conference where learners can come to experience the technology we learn about in theory, hands-on.

The morning will start off with learners going around to sessions to see and experience tech hands-on. Each session comes with a set of questions which learners need to answer. After a lunch break, IEB and DBE learners will split and meet up with theory specialists for a workshop on how to answer theory questions and get the maximum marks for your answers.

Sessions include:

  1. A closer look at hardware
  2. Why system requirements matter
  3. Printers from all walks of life
  4. Networks
  5. Internet of Things & biometric security
  6. Experience AR & VR
  7. Ethical hacker discussing malware
  8. Social implications
  9. Theory workshop by senior markers
Cost: R50* per pupil (accompanying teacher free)

When: Saturday 6 October 2018
Time: 08:30 - 15:00
