Making theory more practical

Just to show you what I’ve been up to. I made another display board to illustrate fragmentation and defragmentation. I used some math counting blocks (could not bring myself to use Lego!) and broke up the blocks to represent clusters or data being written to a disk and scattered across the disk.

I then put the matching colours together to illustrate how defragmentation works and allows for quicker retrieval of files in a computer system.

I fixed my ‘open-able’ HDD to show my students what a hard disk drive actually looks like and explain that it is magnetic storage. This goes along with the board I made as well.
