I thought I should share:

Just in case you didn’t see this.
There has been some discussion on this list on the “designated list of subjects”.
The attached invitation to comment from the Dept of Basic Education (DBE) appeared in yesterday’s Sunday Times (22 September 2013). The public is invited to comment on aspects of the NSC, such as the promotion requirements, the value of Life Orientation, etc.
Although this might not be the appropriate forum, as the “designated list of subjects” is essentially determined by the Council for Higher Education, I believe that if each one of the CAT teachers on this list sent an e-mail to the address given in the invitation it would make the DBE sit up and take notice.
If you decide to respond I would also suggest that you cc your teacher union as I’m sure that they are going to respond. If they get sufficient responses then they too could put pressure on the appropriate authorities.
According to the invitation the public needs to respond within 2 weeks from the date of publication. I believe that this would be Friday 3 October (to be on the safe side).
