As a Computer Applications Technology teacher, I am at a distinct advantage. I work with Microsoft applications and computer hardware every single day. The subject itself covers so much of a practical nature and is intensely skills-based. Any teacher teaching CAT cannot help becoming rather adept at using their knowledge with a focused growth mindset due to the progressive nature of the CAT CAPS curriculum.
With that view in mind, I have decided to create a list of basic computer/technology skills that I believe that every teacher should have, regardless of what they teach or which age group they are involved in.
I have created an open spreadsheet for anyone to edit or comment on where I list the basic computer and technology skills that I believe all teachers should have. Please add your input if you feel there is an important (basic or essential) skill that a teacher should have in terms of computers and technology.
